University of Florida Acceptance Rate: 19.8% and the Fastest Selectivity Climb in Public Flagships
By Rona Aydin

TL;DR: The University of Florida admitted 19,012 of a record 95,986 applicants for the Class of 2030, an acceptance rate of 19.8% (Oriel Admissions calculation from the UF admitted student profile), with 14,497 of those admits coming through Early Action and 4,515 through Regular Decision. Admitted students had a middle 50% weighted GPA of 4.5 to 4.7, SAT of 1420 to 1520, and ACT of 32 to 35. For 2026-27, UF adds a binding Early Decision round (apply by October 15, decisions by December 11) alongside non-binding Early Action (November 1) and Regular Decision (January 15), and it requires SAT, ACT, or CLT scores from every applicant.

How Fast Is UF Getting More Selective?
UF publishes the numbers behind the climb. The Class of 2030 cycle drew 95,986 applications, which UF calls its largest total to date, against 19,012 admits and a projected first-year class of 7,500. Its Common Data Set shows the same direction in earlier years: 90,523 first-year applicants and 18,403 admits for fall 2025 (20.3%), and 73,557 applicants and 17,804 admits for fall 2024 (24.2%). From fall 2024 to the Class of 2030, applications rose by about 30% while admits rose by about 7%, which is why the rate keeps falling.
University of Florida Acceptance Rate by Year
| Cycle | Applications | Admitted | Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class of 2030 (fall 2026), admitted student profile | 95,986 | 19,012 | 19.8% |
| Fall 2025, Common Data Set 2025-26 | 90,523 | 18,403 | 20.3% |
| Fall 2024, Common Data Set 2024-25 | 73,557 | 17,804 | 24.2% |
Each rate is an Oriel Admissions calculation from the counts shown. The fall 2026 row comes from the UF admitted student profile, and the fall 2025 and fall 2024 rows come from the UF Common Data Set, which is compiled separately, so read the rows as a trend rather than to the decimal. In fall 2025, 7,619 first-year students enrolled.
What Admitted Gators Actually Look Like
The Class of 2030 admitted middle 50% shows where the bar sits: weighted GPA 4.5 to 4.7, SAT 1420 to 1520, and ACT 32 to 35, and for admitted Honors students a GPA of 4.6 to 4.8, SAT of 1520 to 1560, and ACT of 35 to 36. UF requires SAT, ACT, or CLT scores from all applicants, has no preference among them, and superscores each test, counting only the English, Reading, and Math sections of the ACT. Timing matters: 14,497 of the 19,012 admits came through Early Action, against 4,515 in Regular Decision. Admitted students came from 3,988 high schools across 58 Florida counties, all 50 states, and 74 countries.
Residency changes the odds less than many families assume. The UF Common Data Set for fall 2025 reports 42,172 Florida applicants with 9,387 admitted (22.3%), 39,420 out-of-state applicants with 8,086 admitted (20.5%), and 8,931 international applicants with 930 admitted (10.4%), all Oriel Admissions calculations, though enrollment still skews in-state: 5,856 of the 7,619 enrolling first-years (76.9%) were Floridians. For 2026-27, binding Early Decision runs on an October 15 application deadline, October 22 materials deadline, December 11 decisions, and January 8 confirmation; Early Action decisions come January 22 and Regular Decision decisions March 19. Apply early with scores in hand, treat the essays and activities as decisive, and choose Early Decision only if UF is your clear first choice.
