For the Class of 2028, Harvard University continued its trend of extreme selectivity, admitting just 3.65% of applicants. From a pool of 54,008 applications, only 1,970 students were accepted. The Early Decision round saw a slightly higher acceptance rate of 8.74%, with 692 students admitted, representing 42% of the incoming class. 

Standardized Testing

Harvard has adopted a test-optional policy in recent admissions cycles, allowing applicants to decide whether to submit SAT or ACT scores. This approach acknowledges the varied access to testing opportunities among students. When submitted, standardized test scores are considered as part of the holistic review process.

Harvard’s admitted students displayed exceptionally high academic qualifications, with 92.34% scoring between 700–800 on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section, and an impressive 95.94% scoring within that same range for Math. Very few admitted students scored below 600 on either section. ACT scores were equally strong, with 99.44% of students scoring between 30–36, and just 0.56% scoring in the 24–29 range. These numbers highlight Harvard’s continued emphasis on academic excellence and its ability to attract and admit some of the world’s most outstanding students.
