Columbia

By Sean Khottavong

For the Class of 2028, Columbia University admitted 2,327 students from a competitive pool of 60,248 applicants, resulting in an exceptionally low acceptance rate of 3.86%. Although Columbia offers an Early Decision option, the university has not released specific data on Early Decision acceptance rates or the number of students admitted through that round for this cycle.

Standardized Testing

The academic profile of admitted students remains among the strongest in the nation. For those who submitted SAT scores, 92% scored between 700–800 in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and 97% scored in that top range for Math. ACT performance was equally impressive, with 99% of admitted students earning composite scores between 30–36, and only 1% scoring in the 24–29 range. These figures reflect Columbia’s continued emphasis on academic excellence and its position as one of the most selective Ivy League institutions.
