Emory Early Decision Acceptance Rate: ED I, ED II, and the Two-Campus Math

By Rona Aydin

The Emory campus - a look at what Emory is known for

TL;DR: Emory’s Early Decision I acceptance rate for the Class of 2030 was 29.0%, with 1,041 students admitted from 3,593 applications, the largest Early Decision pool in its history: 845 to Emory College, 417 to Oxford College, and 221 admitted to both campuses with their choice of which to attend (Emory News Center, December 2025). Across both early rounds, Emory College admitted 1,078 students through Early Decision for the Class of 2030, and the overall admit rates were 9% at Emory College and 10% at Oxford College (Emory student profile, June 2026). The Emory Advantage Plus program, which covers full tuition for eligible families earning $200,000 or less, launched with this class, and Emory cited it as one driver of the larger pool. Emory Early Decision Acceptance Rate: The ED I Trend

Emory reports ED I as a combined figure across its two campuses each December, and the direction has been steady: the pool grows nearly every cycle, admits grow more slowly, and the rate compresses. Two recent cycles tell the story.

ClassED I applicationsED I admitsED I rateNotes
Class of 20293,31199530.1%805 Emory College, 400 Oxford, 210 both; pool up 21%
Class of 20303,5931,04129.0%845 Emory College, 417 Oxford, 221 both; largest ED pool in Emory history, up 8.5%

At 29.0%, the Emory early decision acceptance rate remains the widest early door among the schools in our Early Decision acceptance rates master table, roughly three times the overall admit rates of 9% at Emory College and 10% at Oxford College for the Class of 2030. The full Emory acceptance rate breakdown covers the overall and campus-level picture.

The Two-Campus Math: Emory College, Oxford College, and the 221

Emory’s single application covers two campuses: Emory College in Atlanta, where students spend all four years, and Oxford College, a smaller liberal arts campus where students spend two years before continuing in Atlanta. The Class of 2030 ED I admits split 845 to Emory College, 417 to Oxford, and 221 to both, and that last group gets to choose. Oriel Admissions advises against treating the second campus as a throwaway hedge: the dual application works best with a specific case for each environment and an Oxford essay that reads like a choice rather than a backup. Oxford’s overall admit rate for the Class of 2030 was 10%, against 9% at Emory College, which makes the two-campus application a genuine strategic lever for students whose goal is the Emory degree. The cohort also included 57 QuestBridge match students, filling access seats before Regular Decision opened.

ED II at Emory Is a Different Door

Emory does not publish a separate ED II acceptance rate, so the January round’s odds cannot be verified. The arithmetic suggests it is tighter: by January most early seats are committed, and ED II competes for the remainder alongside strong students released from other schools’ December rounds. ED II at Emory still carries the binding signal, and an ED II admit to both campuses has until the deposit date to choose, but families should not assume the November and January doors are the same width. Our Early Decision II strategy guide covers when the January round earns its place.

Advantage Plus and the Aid Calculus

The Emory Advantage Plus program, announced in September 2025, covers full tuition for families earning $200,000 or less who qualify for need-based aid, starting in fall 2026 with the incoming Class of 2030, at both Emory College and Oxford College. That threshold reaches well into the income range where families traditionally hesitated to bind early over aid uncertainty, and Emory cited it as one driver of the record ED I pool. For qualifying families, the classic ED objection of committing before comparing offers loses much of its force at Emory, although the program covers tuition rather than housing and meals; for families above the threshold, the standard calculus applies unchanged. Either way, the program reshapes who the binding round is rational for, which is exactly the kind of shift our ED versus RD advantage calculator helps quantify.

Should You Apply Early Decision to Emory

Emory’s ED I closes November 1 with decisions by December 15 (December 10 for the Class of 2030), and ED II closes January 1 with decisions by February 15. Both rounds are binding. Oriel Admissions sees a stronger strategic case at Emory than the raw multiplier suggests: a 29.0% early door against overall rates of 9% and 10%, an aid program that covers tuition for a wide income band, and a two-campus structure that adds a second path to the same degree. The tests remain the honest ones: genuine first choice, a finished application by late October, and a clear-eyed reading of which campus and which round fit the file. The full Emory admissions guide covers the profile that clears the bar, and notification dates keeps the calendar straight.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Emory Early Decision Acceptance Rate

What is the Emory early decision acceptance rate?

ED I for the Class of 2030 was 29.0%, with 1,041 students admitted from a record 3,593 applications across both campuses. Emory does not publish a separate ED II rate.

Is Emory ED I easier than ED II?

Emory does not publish an ED II rate, so the comparison cannot be verified. By January most early seats are committed, so ED II competes for the remainder, and students certain about Emory are better served by the November round.

What is the difference between Emory College and Oxford College for ED?

One application covers both. Emory College is the four-year Atlanta campus; Oxford is a smaller campus where students spend two years before continuing in Atlanta. For the Class of 2030, ED I admits split 845 to Emory College, 417 to Oxford, and 221 to both with their choice of campus.

Does applying to both Emory campuses improve your chances?

It adds a second genuine path to the same degree, and Oxford admitted 10% of applicants for the Class of 2030 against 9% at Emory College. Oriel Admissions advises making a specific case for each campus, so that the Oxford essay reads like a choice rather than a backup.

What is Emory Advantage Plus and does it apply to ED?

Advantage Plus covers full tuition for families earning $200,000 or less who qualify for need-based aid, starting in fall 2026 with the Class of 2030, at Emory College and Oxford College. Emory describes no difference by admission round, so it reduces the compare-offers objection to binding early for qualifying families.

What percent of the Emory class is filled through Early Decision?

Emory does not publish that share. Its student profile shows Emory College admitting 1,078 students through Early Decision and 2,774 through Regular Decision for the Class of 2030, and with overall admit rates of 9% at Emory College and 10% at Oxford, the early rounds are where most of the realistic admission odds live.

Is Emory Early Decision binding?

Yes, both ED I and ED II are binding commitments to enroll if admitted, including for students admitted to Oxford College. The recognized release valve is financial: families whose aid offer genuinely does not make attendance possible can be released.

When do Emory ED decisions come out?

ED I decisions arrive by December 15, on December 10 for the Class of 2030, and ED II decisions by February 15. Regular Decision results follow in late March.
