
Cornell’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions extended offers to 5,824 highly qualified students to join their Class of 2029. This marks an astonishing 13.3% increase from last year’s 5,139 admitted students.
The admitted students represent all 50 states and 115 countries.
While the full admissions details for the Class of 2029 have yet to be released, we know that Cornell’s admitted Class of 2029 is an exceptional group of students. Lisa Nishii, vice provost for undergraduate education and enrollment, shares that these students “bring life to Cornell’s commitment to changing lives through public engagement.”
Despite Cornell’s lack of publicized data surrounding the Class of 2029, valuable insight into admitted student applications was provided. Seemingly, a common theme amongst numerous applications was the desire to solve problems. Nishii further shares that “their application essays outlined how they plan to channel their passions into knowledge while at Cornell.”
“Many students described how their academic interests and sense of purpose emerged from specific life experiences that have motivated them to find better solutions to complex problems – for example, related to health, policy, access, and environmental challenges – and to improve societal outcomes overall,” she shares.
