Dartmouth University

Dartmouth’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions experienced a decline in applications, reporting 28,230 applications for the 2024-2025 admissions cycle. Dartmouth saw an 11% decrease in applications from last year, having previously received a total of 31,657 during the 2023-2024 admissions cycle. The decline in the volume of applications can be attributed to the University’s decision to reinstate standardized testing policies along with a 4.75% increase in tuition fees.

For the Class of 2029, Dartmouth extended admission offers to 1,702 students, resulting in an acceptance rate of 6%, which marks a higher rate compared to last year’s 5.3%.

Dartmouth’s accepted students hailed from diverse and competitive academic backgrounds, with 96% of the admitted class sitting in the top 10% of their high school graduating class. Over a quarter of admitted students are expected to receive valedictorian or salutatorian status. Among those invited, admits come from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, along with 57 other nations. Out of those invited to join the Class of 2029, 16% are first-generation college students, 56% are public high school students, and 15% are reported to live in a rural environment.

Dartmouth’s commitment to diversify its student population has been marked by their increasingly inclusive efforts. Evidence of this includes their partnership with the Small Town and Rural Student (STARS) College Network and the offering of more than $52.6 million in need-based scholarships.
