IE Business School Acceptance Rate: Rolling Admissions and No Official Figure

By Rona Aydin

TL;DR: IE Business School does not list an IE Business School acceptance rate on its International MBA pages, and the program has no application deadlines: admission is rolling, and places are awarded in strict order of admission date. The program page shows 57 nationalities, 92% international students, an average age of 29 and around six years of work experience, with a minimum of three years. Tuition is €89,900 for the 11 and 15 month durations, plus a one-off €1,200 contribution to the IE Foundation. Candidates take the GMAT, the GRE or the ieGAT, the IE Global Admission Test (Sources: IE Business School International MBA program page and admissions and fees page; GMAC review of MBA acceptance rates, July 2026). If you are deciding whether IE belongs on your list beside US programs, Oriel Admissions builds MBA application strategy on this data: schedule a consultation.

What Is the IE Business School Acceptance Rate?

IE Business School does not list an acceptance rate on its International MBA pages, and it does not publish the number of applications it receives. There is no official figure to quote. The GMAC review of acceptance rates at leading business schools, published in July 2026, covers the top ten schools in the 2026 Financial Times Global MBA Ranking and does not list IE. It does state that schools outside the United States either do not publish official figures or have not released any since 2019, and that estimates for leading European schools range from 20% to 30%. Any IE Business School acceptance rate you see quoted is an estimate.

What IE does publish is a student profile and a description of how it admits. Both are more useful than an estimate.

Why Does Rolling Admission Matter More Than the IE Business School Acceptance Rate?

IE runs a rolling admissions process. Its admissions and fees page states that there is no deadline and that you can apply at any time of the year. It also states that places in its master programs are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, by strict order of admission date. The date you are admitted matters, not only whether you are admitted.

That is a different calendar from the other leading European schools, which read applications in rounds or against fixed deadlines. Our guide to the best MBA programs in Europe compares all seven on the same measures.

SchoolAdmissions calendarTuition or fee as published
IE Business SchoolRolling, no deadline€89,900 (11 and 15 month durations)
IESEFour rounds€117,000 (September 2027 intake)
INSEADFour rounds for each of two intakes€109,860 (August 2026 and January 2027 intakes)
HEC ParisMonthly deadlines, two intakes€102,000 (2027 intakes)
London Business SchoolThree rounds£123,950 (2026 intake)
OxfordFive stages£94,120 (2027-28)
CambridgeFive rounds£86,250 (September 2027 entry)

IE says the admissions process takes four to six weeks on average and that the Admissions Committee replies within roughly one to three weeks of the final step. An admission is valid for the intake you apply to and the following one. If you are not an EU citizen, IE encourages you to confirm your place and begin the visa process as early as possible.

What Test Scores Do You Need for IE Business School?

Candidates take one of three tests: the GMAT, the GRE or the ieGAT, the IE Global Admission Test, which IE runs itself. The program page does not list an average score or a minimum for any of them. If you already have a GMAT or GRE score for other schools, you can use it here.

If you are not a native English speaker, you present a certificate such as IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge Advanced or Duolingo. IE waives the requirement if you completed your bachelor degree in English or have lived or worked in an English-speaking country for the past two years. If you plan to sit the GMAT for the rest of your list, our GMAT prep guide covers how to plan it.

Who Gets Into the IE International MBA?

The International MBA program page says the degree is designed for professionals with a minimum of three years of work experience and that participants bring around six years on average. The student profile shows 57 nationalities, 92% international students, an average age of 29 and 33% women. Another section of the same page gives the average age as 30.

For a US applicant, the career data deserves a careful read. IE reports that 49.8% of graduates work in Europe, 24.1% in Latin America, 15.4% in Asia Pacific, 5.5% in the Middle East and Africa and 5.1% in North America. If your goal is a job in the United States after the degree, weigh that last figure. IE also reports that half of graduates advance within their sector and half change sector, and that 100% of job seekers received an offer within six months of graduation.

How Much Does the IE International MBA Cost?

Tuition is €89,900 and is reviewed every year. IE states that this figure applies only to the 11 and 15 month durations, and the shorter one places IE among the one year MBA programs. The page also lists a 19 or 23 month format, and the €89,900 figure does not cover it. On top of tuition, every student makes a one-off contribution of €1,200 to the IE Foundation during enrollment.

Tuition can be paid in up to seven consecutive installments. IE describes the payment plans as interest free, with no pre-approval requirement and no credit check, and it charges €400 for plans with more than three installments. The school offers merit-based aid and loan programs. Intakes are in September and January, the program is taught in English, and it is based in Madrid.

How Does the IE Admissions Process Work?

There are four steps before the decision. You complete the online application form and upload the required documents. You take the GMAT, the GRE or the ieGAT. You complete an online assessment of three live questions, two answered on video and one in writing, which IE says takes 20 to 30 minutes. You then have a personal interview with a manager of the Admissions team, face to face or online.

Because places are allocated by admission date, have your test score and documents ready before you open the application. Our guides to the core pillars of an MBA application and the weakness question in MBA interviews cover the written and interview stages, and our guide to building an MBA school list covers how a European program fits beside US options. For the US side, see our guide to what the M7 schools publish.

Is the IE Business School Acceptance Rate the Same as the IE University Acceptance Rate?

No. IE Business School is the business school of IE University, and this page covers one program, the International MBA, which requires at least three years of work experience. Bachelor admission at IE University is a separate process with its own requirements, and nothing on this page describes it. The Master in Management is separate too. IE describes it as designed for recent graduates and young professionals at the beginning of their careers. Our guide to masters in management vs MBA explains how the two degrees differ.
